The death toll so far
There are now more than 16,000 men, women, and children displaced by Burma Army offensives in Eastern Karen state. In this ongoing event we have verified the deaths of 23 civilians, 10 landmine victims, 1 decapitation, 1 tortured (nose and eyes cut out), and 2 mutilated with knives.
We have asked what the 5 most important items are that a family of 5 needs to survive for a month the list is simple:
150 pounds of rice; 10 pounds of salt 1 cooking pot 1 lighter 1 machete 1 large plastic sheet for making a roof in the jungle The items on the list above can help save a family of 5. It costs $50 to do so. Partners wants to keep as many groups of 5 Alive as possible. Please, as a matter of life and death, join the 5 Alive campaign now.
Thank you to everyone who helped us to collect shoes for the Rev. Arthur's children in the refugee camp. The shoes and the toys are greatly appreciated and the children love them.

The Special Interest Unit in Neonatology based at the Milton Keynes Hospital has recently been provided with a Polycom video system through the charity Telemed. This enables doctors at the unit to link up with a consultant based at the local centre of excellence in Oxford, and to receive a swift diagnosis of a problem. The system is most frequently used when scanning a baby's heart. To receive a quick and accurate diagnosis the paedia-cardiologists at the special unit in Oxford can be consulted almost immediately.
